Teleporting familiars, and others

The teleport spell allows the caster to transport "one additional willing Medium or smaller creature (carrying gear or objects up to its maximum load) .. per three caster levels".

Does a wizard or sorcerer's own familar count as another creature, for the purpose of how many extra creatures can be transported?
What about the familiar of another creature that is included in the teleport?
What about animal companions of either the caster, or other included characters?
Are there any other creatures that may be included 'for free'?

Share Spell allows the caster to have any spell he cast upon himself to also affact his familiar/animal companion/mount(?). They are free, unless the caster decides not to share it. Other familiars and animal companions would count against the limit.

Oh.. and what about Intelligent items? Are they an object or another creature?

"Intelligent items can actually be considered creatures because they have Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores. Treat them as constructs."

As well as Teleport, this is also of concern with spells like Rope Trick, which is limited as to the number of creatures that can fit in the extradimensional space.
