Taking A Peek At The Stormlight RPG!

Johnny O'Neal of Brotherwise Games shared a look at Actions in the game.

With over 20,000 followers already, the Stormlight Archive RPG looks set to be one of the biggest TTRPG Kickstarters of all time. Based on the novels of Brandon Sanderson (whose own Kickstarter raised over $40M in 2023), the Kickstarter launches on August 6th.

Johnny O'Neal of Brotherwise Games shared a look at Actions in the game. "Game design is all about giving players meaningful choices, and I think the team did a great job bringing that philosophy to combat.Your choices, like "fast or slow" and "use Aid or Dodge," are really impactful!"

O'Neal went on to say "Some people who see list compare it to Pathfinder 2e, which is understandable because we're trying to solve the same problem ("how do you upgrade d20-based mechanics?") but I'd say where Pathfinder tends to dial up crunchier elements, we're emphasizing more narrative elements."

The only bigger Kickstarter I can imagine would be a HP TTRPG, or possibly a new Star Wars RPG.
Hard to argue with that.

The Kickstarter is for three books: a TTRPG rulebook, an Adventure Campaign (specifically designed to allow people to roll their tables results into their head-cannpn for the novel series!), and a rules-agnostic world setting and art book

That third book is huge, because there isn't anything like the detailing Roshar yet, so non-gamer fans are going to tune in.

that third book alone could push this over 10 million, IMO. I mean, I think this is going over 5 million easy, 10 million maybe.....All the actions on one page? And relatively easy to understand?

I'm fairly leary about getting ew High Fantasy RPGs, because I already have several...

But, Kelek, this action economy, magic as Skill checks, and the chance to get Knights Radiant at the storming table...that's exciting.

I say $10 .Illinois first day, just to be absurd.

I really wanted to say 10 million easy, but I was too chicken. I haven't cracked the books open yet, though I own the first two....

They are worth the investment of time and mental energy, IMO. A bit of a learning curve for the Settijg, lots of weird things to get one's head around...but that pays off latter by cashing every weird worldbuilding check with major dividends.

Start a bit slow, but once the plot builds up steam it gets unreal.

I assume so, I just have SO MANY UNREAD books, and two partially read ones I want to finish.....not to mention two campaigns to plan, golf, spending time with my wife, hiking, wine tasting, etc. The books are SO THICK!
