Strength bonus on critical hits.

Strngth damage , weapon specialization, enchantment bonuses, Powerattack...all are multiplied with a critical hit. Extra dice like flame dame and sneak attack are not.

The reason why this is allowed is that it keeps criticals relevant in combat. At 15th lv a fighter would laugh when crited by a giant if the giant only did 4d6+7, now if the giant did 4d6+14 that isn't quite as much of a laughing matter.

I like to think of it as multiple "simultaneous" hits, with the exception of extra damage dice.

An attack is actually more of an "attack combo" than a single swing anyway.

They had to make an exception for extra dice for sneak attack and weapon energy enhancements or damage would go through the roof. It sort of makes sense going either way on the extra dice. But they did it right game balance-wise.

Sneak attack dice are pseudo-criticals already. And making the distinct between normal flaming weapons and flaming burst weapons, for example, solves any issues there.

So extra damage dice are not multiplied, but flat bonuses are?

If my paladin criticals while using smite evil, does the smite damage get multiplied?

If the ranger criticals while striking a favored enemy, the favored enemy damage is also multiplied?

Yup. Any bonus damage not represented as dice is multiplied on a critical hit.
