Anyone know if there is a d20 version of any steampunk games, such as Space: 1889, Gurps Steampunk, Mechanical Dream, Castle Frankenstein, etc...?

I know there was an article in Dragon not too long ago, but I don't recall the issue, or any reference to a d20 version of it.

Thanks,

Mistwell

Well, the d20 steampunk setting that is most out of the box is the d20 Deadlands game from Pinnicle Entertaiment Group. It's set in a world where historical Old West can meet either Lovecraft or Grade B movies. Some of the most flexible Gadgeteer rules for d20 so far. The book is supported by a "Horrors of the West" monster book and two class books. One for poker playing wizards and the other for gun slingers.
D20 Deadlands and regular Deadlands

Coming out of the gate about a year late is Iron Kingdoms from Privateer Press. IK is a fantasy world filled with Alchemical Gunpowder and "Steamjacks" which are technogolems. The monster book, full of steam punkish enemies is supposed to in April. The world book is still not out yet.

From what I hear, Castle Falkenstein may be get a revival from R. Talsorian and has no intention of going the d20 route. I haven't seen any web pages on such a concept. Though I have done some homework on this myself.

The Dungeon had some d20 Pulp rules that had a decent scientist class for gadget rules.

Yes, of course, Falkenstein, not Frankenstein!

Thanks a lot Voneth, that is great help.

Sounds to me like nobody has done a full-out Steampunk d20 system, just a bunch of varients to it so far. Hmmmm

Our pulp game "Forbidden Kingdoms" spans from 1889 up through 1939 and is divided into three eras. They are:

SteamPulp, Tesla Time, and Nazi Thugs. The game is completely D20, and includes 8 new character classes, 8 new prestige classes, weird science rules, complete gun rules, new martial arts rules and new psionic rules.

It's got everything you need to run a SteamPunk game and then some.

You can read more about it at our website. http://www.otherworlds.cx

Hyrum.

My apologies!!

I didn't know that Forbidden Kingdoms included Steam Punk or I would have included it in my list.

Mistwell: What is your defintion of Steampunk?

I'd say that Iron Kingdoms is lightly seasoned with Steampunk. They didn't want their adventures to exclude the fanatic fantasy crowd. I hope the world book will be better.

d20 Deadlands is much heavier in Steampunk since it has a whole Mad Science class. The rules mechanics can create a full fledged Steampunk game, even though the background world claims that Mad Science in DL is just another form of magic.

Forbidden Kingdoms? I'll take HyrumOWC's word that they are aiming for a SteamPunk setting, though I haven't seen a Wierd Science class or a gadegteer class in their preview material yet.

As an aside, a different take on the "mad science is magic" angle, check out Gregory Keyes' "Age of Unreason" series. You would have never thought Ben Franklin could have been an action hero until you read this book.

The only sad part of the series is that Blue Beard got such a build up as a character and then he ... nevermind, just read it.

Hey Voneth,

FK has a Weird Scientist Prestige Class, as well as rules for designing and using weird science items. Heck, in the SteamPulp time period for the game we've got working Babbage Engines, Celestial Elevators, and a host of other weird gadgets. :)

I believe the Mad Scientist book for Deadlands d20 is available now... (Way of the New Science)

Hmmm, here it is

http://www.peginc.com/Merchant2/mer...e_Code=S&Product_Code=1WOTNS&Category_Code=DD

"Inside this new class book for Deadlands D20 you'll find detailed and expanded rules for creating weird gizmos, as well as new rules for creating alchemical elixirs, a new Prestige Class, and how to mix mad science and magic. You'll also find a host of preconstructed weird gizmos and a passel of relics from the Weird West's most notorious Mad Scientists. "

I think the most recent Atlas product has some steampunkish d20 rules (something about a Magdalene)
