Star Wars/Living Force Character Generator

Does anyone know of a good (& preferably free) character generator program for the Star Wars RPG. My wife and I are looking at getting into Living Force and I hate doing characters by hand.

Actually yes. A friend of mine finished working on this just a while ago. Here is the link. It is phenomenal. You need the books for details on stuff like feats, skills and what each race looks like but it is amazing. He updates it and corrects bugs often and is working on adding more to it.

BecketVelar, make sure your friend is very, very careful about copyright issues, especially as he is distributing the program online. Up until a year or so ago, there was a very comprehensive and robust piece of free character (and starship, and vehicle, and droid) generator software called Okina-rdae, which was shut down after legal threats from WotC. There is some sort of monopolistic contract that means only Lucasarts can distribute Star Wars related software, and if Wizards want to keep their RPG license then they have to do their bit in ensuring nobody uses the RPG side of things to get round this. Yes, it stinks, it defies all logic, and anyone trying to enforce this while there is no useful piece of chargen software on the market deserves a quick kick in the groin, but that's the way it is, I'm afraid.

I don't think they have a problem with Excel files. There are several chargen Excel files on the net. I think it's the standalone programs that they don't allow like Okina and PCGen. Of course I'm not a lawyer so take it for what it's worth.

Hes way ahead of us on those points. He has a disclaimer putting all rights back on WOTC. The other thing is he doesnt explain any of the abilities. You need to have a book to know what 80% of the stuff does. It wont tell you what "Cosmopolitan" does or what the prereqs are for Teras Kasi. And as he said to me. If he gets the big letter from Emperor Palpa.....er Lucas than off it comes.

That's good to hear, and all the best to him! I haven't looked at your friend's program (I use Okina-rdae, downloaded when it was still available), so I didn't realise it was Excel-based. That might make a difference, or at least I'd hope so - though leaving out the feat descriptions didn't help Okina-rdae...
