A little bit of the galaxy map I did some time ago. You have to click on the south quadrant and mouse over the outer rim. I thought it was pretty neat.
It's too bad I was only able to get a few of the sectors in the south quadrant done. But I got bored with doing the same thing over and over and over, so I really only took a few days to work on it... then my evaluation copy ran out. oh well.
I also have to give credit to the man who compiled most (almost all, except a few planet/systems I added in for my games) of these; Tony J. Case, Super Genius. Here's his website: http://www.the-chaos-crew.com/swrpg/home.htm
I found this simple text file to be invaluable when running a game. With a simple look, I knew what planets were nearby and what kind of interesting things were going on there. The fact that one planet (Vengler: more cosmopolitan characters will sum up the planet in one word: Dirtball.) was in the same sector as Yavin led to a whole campaign.
edit: here's an html version of the same map: http://www.lowlight.com/swmap/
(mine is different since it's gone through some in-game revisions)
I don't know if it's still out there on teh intraweb or not, but if you can find it, it's great!
