D&D 5E Star Wars D&D 5E (Hack)

Also of note: if you wanted to run a Star Wars game but your group was unwilling to read a new rulebook (or get dice or whatever), you could still probably sell them on "read these 10 pages and we are good to go". :D

(that is legitimately how Hypercorps 2099 started--nobody was willing to read the Shadowrun book :P )

So people who play D&D do so because they might not want to read a new Rulebook? That is an interesting theory.

But still, no. D&D is not the answer to everything. There is already an RPG system tailor-made for Star Wars that works beautifully. Yes, it is different than D&D, as it should be. This is not a slight against your work or ambition. It is simply a statement of observation. There is no need to rekindle a past product because it kinda worked within the parameters of a popular game system when we know have a thoroughly definitive, and at least different option much better suited for Star Wars games.

Yeah man. My best group is a bunch of grown adults with full-time jobs and interests beyond four hours of gaming on Sunday. Ideally we would all have the time and inclination to embrace an entirely new system, but finding time to sit down together and game is vexing enough.

Flatly saying "no" as a definitive answer is absolutely a slight against what I am about -- "not for me", or "I prefer Saga edition" wouldn't be, but I am not sure how flatly saying "no" as a definitive could be anything other than a condemnation upon said efforts.

There are *3* systems for Star Wars that I know about (West End d6, d20 Saga, and Edge of the Empire). Personally I am a fan of Saga--my experiences with EoE have been underwhelming and the buy-in is pretty deep.

Hopefully in the future we will all have leisurely lives where everyone can collectively devote hours of understanding to embrace new (and old!) games, but until then I think hacks like mine are a wonderful resource for a lot of folks. :D

Anyway thanks for commenting!

How obstreperous of you!

There's no need for anything remotely connected to this discussion, and there's also certainly no need for an option not to exist (well, maybe an IP need, but that's between Mike and Disney, I guess). Some things just exist because somebody wanted to make it and thought somebody else might be interested.

I fear not the Haus of Maus. Also I make $0 from my website so bring on the Disney, I love free publicity.

I find that te newly avaible Hyperlanes rules for 5th edition translate enough to make starwars possible!

Cool! That looked like a solid Kickstarter and I'm glad to hear they are delivering! :D

Now regarding your idea I like how the jedi consular, guardian and sentinel are handled in your proposal.

Thank you! If this were Pathfinder (or more than just a quick hack) I'd get way more specific but it's D&D 5E --> keep things light. A little bit of Hyper Score here or there (up to around maybe 6 or so) won't end up with a cybered-up space mercenary going around throwing tie fighters, but it should be enough to get some epic force throws and lightning into the mix and hit the power threshold for a Jedi Master.
