HAs there been an change to this in either the FAQ, errata, or 3.5 update somewhere?

I searched the WOTC stuff but didn't find anything.

It's going to be updated in the new Player's Guide to Faerun. I think it still gives the bonus spells, but doesn't increase the DC.

I agree, it was perfectly fine as it was.

And the only reason it isnt 'balanced' now is because they made a lot of other stupid changes (in this case namely spell focus, which was marginal at best at +2, now it is a waste of ink)

I still don't understand why they had to nerf Spell Focus so much.

I realize that they were concerned about Greater Spell Focus but couldn't they have made Spell Focus (+1), Greater Spell Focus (+3 including Spell Focus)? Or maybe +2, +3. But +1, +2 isn't much...

Spellcasting prodigy was incredibly unbalanced. A +2 to a stat (effectively) for 1 feat? You get feats every 3 levels, but it takes 8 levels to gain a +2 to an ability. That is just a hint at how out of whack this feat was ...

Seems like they just could've made a side bar saying something like, 'greater spell focus is a bit unbalanced when combined with any number of things, so it probably shouldnt be allowed in most campaigns. Use greater at your own risk, and it wont be core'

Or something like that. Leave spell focus at +2 and give it some other minor bonus while they are at it.
