So...Who Watched "Mega Snake" on SciFi?

Legend
"Mega Snake," the latest SciFi movie about a giant snake that runs amok and eats people, was on last night. I normally don't bother with such movies, but I watched this out of curiosity only because it was the movie with Feedback, the winner of the first season of "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?"

As a giant-snake-runs-amok-and-eats-people movie, it was standard fare. As a here's-part-of-your-award-package-for-winning-the-WWTBAS?-contest, is was terrible. The winner of WWTBAS? was supposed to have gotten a comic book starring their superhero (which Dark Horse did produce - it was average at best), and have a SciFi movie made about their superhero. The way it was originally described, it sounded like a movie about, and featuring, the superhero - in other words, a superhero movie. (Not necessarily starring the winner of the show, but at least featuring the superhero, even if he was portrayed by somebody else.) Instead, Feedback was inserted into a giant snake movie and had a cumulative total of maybe two minutes of screen time. Personally, I felt bad for him, but then again maybe he preferred two minutes of him playing Feedback over two hours of somebody else playing Feedback.

I watched Mega Snake last night in hopes that Feedback would have a bigger role or at least zap the monster. I too expected the first winner of Who Wants To Be A Super Hero? to be in a superhero movie and not a monster-of-the-week movie.

I watched at most an hour of it before turning it off. Thanks to Wikipedia, I didn't have to watch all two hours of it to see Feedback's poorly conceived cameo. I feel sorry for him because thus far, it looks like he's a victim of the old bait and switch. At least he could say he was in a (direct to tv) movie ..

The only positive I can see in this is if he can make some kind of connections in the film industry. Maybe pick up some more acting gigs (or work behind the camera, if that's what he's interested in).

Other than that, it seems like a giant rip-off. Makes me wonder what this season's heroes are thinking.

I watched it. Not as bad as I thought it would be, for a sci-fi horror movie (not as bad as Stan Lee's Harpies for example). But yeah, not a great role for Feedback.

For what it is worth, Feedback himself is not disappointed. He does not feel in any way cheated. He's just happy to have been in the movie, and he had fun in Bulgaria (though was too cold).

I dunno, even for a Sci-Fi channel movie, I thought it was pretty bad. Not nearly as bad as Harpies, but what is?

It did have some redeeming moments, Michael Shanks is good at dead-pan humor and he had a few funny lines. But I just couldn't get past how bad the accents were.

I particularly liked the way that halfway through the movie, the Ranger chick was suddenly a PhD snake expert. Now, that was convenient! I wonder why that wasn't mentioned before?

Mistwell: I'm glad to hear that Feedback was cool with it. He seems like a pretty nice guy, and I hated the thought of him getting cheated.

well there was:

Mansquito
The Man with the Screaming Brain
Skeleton Man

I did watch Mega Snake in part because I enjoy torturing myself by watching all of the sci-fi saturday night movies. I too was hoping for more for Feedback but if he is happy then OK.

Well, just going by IMDB, you are right with Skeleton Man

Harpies 2.3

Mansquito 2.9
TMWTSB - - 5.5 (lots of Bruce Campbell fans, I guess)
Skeleton Man 1.8
Mega Snake 3.3
