So I got a PS5...

If you haven't played it on PC or PS4, God of War (2018) is a great game that I enjoyed a lot. Good mix of interesting mechanics and a nice father-son story.
Also, I heard good things about Ghost of Tsushima (haven't played it myself so far, but it's pretty high on my personal list).

Mostly PS4 games and remasters of PS3/4 games.

BG3 is good, you already have Spiderman. We recently bought Mass Effect Legendary Edition on it, a Worms game and BG3.

Did you have a PS4 or Xbox One?

When I bought mine, it was for Bloodborne and the Demons Souls remaster, as I finally conceded that the former was never coming to PC. I'm a big fan of Souls likes and the rhythm of play in them.

Ghost of Tsushima is very good, and its PS5 version is excellent - load times are non-existent, even fast-travelling across the island.

Cyberpunk 2077 if it's your cup of tea. The current version is much improved over the original buggy release, and even back when it was released I was able to have fun fully playing through the game.

If you aren't upgrading from a PS4, or haven't checked them out previously, Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War 2018 are both well worth checking out, mechanically good games with superb stories.

Uncharted collection as well.

I liked Assassins Creed Origins and Odyssey a lot. Action adventure/light RPG elements.

Origins more focused story, Odyssey beautiful looking game. Kind of bloated though and it's huge.

Origins is 40-60 hours Odyssey can be 200+. Assassins Creed Black Flag is getting old but fun pirate game.

I put a lot of hours into both, but never finished them - their particular brand of huge open world always seems to lead to me playing them past the point of any remaining interest long before I complete the story.

Yup that can be an issue.

Origins is a bit tighter though so easier to get through the story. Ymmv of course.

Odyssey is 3 or 4 times the size. If you want some cheap gaming for the next year or 2.....

I also really liked God of War, though looking back, I do think that there were some gameplay choices that were a little repetitive for the side quests. But the main plot and especially the character arc for the lead is really great. The music is awesome too.

I'm actually playing ghost right now, and if you are a fan of Japanese samurai flicks, or just the Japanese landscape, it is beautiful and it has some really nice trope focused story beats. As an actual character arc, I'm not sure it's the best, and it also has some repetitive bits where you end up rescuing like 50 different peasants, and they have four different variations of things they say when you rescue them. But it's very fun.

My favorite was probably the Horizon zero Dawn franchise, wherein the first game has the best World building, and the second game has some really excellent gameplay and character stuff.

And then there is Baldur's Gate 3, which has amazing character stuff all the way through and some game mechanics that are a little fiddly, but really rewarding because they let you do so much stuff.

Apologies for the very random capitalizations. I am using voice to text.

Many of my favorite games on the PS5 are actually from the PS4 era, and that really doesn't highlight why one would get a PS5...

Among those PS4 games would be

Uncharted Legacy
Uncharted 4
Mass Effect Legendary edition
Spiderman

Specifically for the PS5, games you may be interested in...

The aforementioned, Ghosts of Tsushima (you want the remastered version of it).

It sounds like you already have Spiderman 2 on it.

Whatever is the newest Fifa game (FC24) (it's the only reason to have a console...right???)

I think you are into the nerd/geek movie/game arena, and are a Star Wars fan...in which case I would HEAVILY suggest

Star Wars: Survivor

Continuing in that vein (not sure if you are a Harry Potter fan or not...though) of geek thought

The PS5 versions of Hogwarts Legacy

IF you like JRPG's, you would have to get a PS4 game first to really get into it...

but if you get Final Fantasy remake...you could also get the PS5 game...Final Fantasy VII rebirth.

My Grandkids seem to really like a game called Elden Ring (but I think that's technically a PS4 game they play on the PS5)

Also a game called Stellar Blade seems to be making waves.
