Did Clark steal the car or did Lex test Clark to see how far he would go for a friend? :) What I thought was interesting is that Lexx stood by his code (in appearance) while Clark broke his because of Pete, Lexx came out the stronger.

Clark also learned that he cannot trust anyone with his secret, when Pete was riding high and low he used Clark's secrets to keep him from his code.

Loved the way both Pa Kent and Lexx told Clark the same thing, "there are grey area".

My high school english teacher once theorized that people did not do things on an axis of right or wrong but on how much the percentage is of them getting caught. If this is true Clark has a major issue because he could almost be uncatchable such as the red rage Clark. I think that this is what his Dad is talking about. Besides he had to discover what wrong is outside the red kryptonite ring, so I think that this is also a learning experience. A defining moment.

Also did anyone notice that when Pete was in the hospital he was wearing the colors of a Green Lantern? Maybe just a coincidence but we all know they love to put Clark in red and blue. Good episode the next one looks good also.

[nudge nudge]Actually, the Lexx wasn't in this episode. Would have been interesting, tho. :D

The good part about this show is that Clark isn't portrayed as a Paladin - in truth, he's done some pretty shady things already to keep his secret, and which may be what ultimately drives the final wedge between him and Lex.

The reason I enjoyed this episode the most, was the final scene. The whole episode to me was good but average - except for the final scene, which made the whole episode for me. It's hard to forgive a betrayal of that magnitude, and it's a lesson which will carry with Clark hopefully should Lex ever regain his memories with the Memory Clinic doctor's help. (Can't think of his name, the one from about two episodes ago.)

Adam Knight=Batman has I think been blown out of the water. Whatever he is, it's... complicated.

Believe it or not, I think Lex actually found respect for Clark with the theft of the Porsche, strange as it sounds. One can hope that Lex will remember that Clark not only abandoned him, but tried to free him later, before his shock therapy, knowing that he was breaking the law to do so. It's not the first time Clark has bent the rules.

Yes, it's apparently true - Johnathan's premature heart attack was caused by his "super power injection" - I wonder if we'll see John Schnieder bid farewell after this season?

But another highlight to me this episode was Pa Kent's and Lex's talk about Grey Areas - The fact is, Clark IS going to be his own moral force one day, just by virtue of his power; Actually, he and Lex will BOTH be, because of who they are and what they will become. Both are on a search for what is morally right, but Lex's ultimate downfall is more tragic by the fact that his own life circumstances will convince him that he has the truth.

The fact that Smallville is ultimately about the two of them, not just Superman, is what has newly interested me in this show. It seems more natural than anything that they would be both good friends - and ultimately hated foes. It just strikes me as a weird thought that such strong foes would know each other's birthdays, families and friends, and dislikes, etc. - and yet, makes good sense.

I did not read much of the original superman comic. But, I have gotten the feeling from much of the material out there (other shows, the batman/superman hour stuff, alternate comics, everything but the movies...) that Lex is less a villan but rather a moral check to superman. He seems to be the one that by challenging Clark helps Clark navigate the grey areas to arrive at the truly right thing. I find Lex to be very Grey.

As for Mr. Adam Knight- I think he is Batman. As the history of Batman indicates that Wayne did travel the world learning every martial art he could. I think it would hilarious if Pete turned out to be the Green Lantern...

Also, I think Smallvilles portrayal of Lex is the best ever.

In my dad's collection of old comics I found a Superboy one where Bruce Wayne (as a teen) comes to Smallville and detectives Superboy's secret identity. It was pretty cool.

I like this show a lot, and have yet to miss an episode.

That said, I've thought the last 3-4 episodes were really, REALLY awful. Each time I hope and pray they will FINISH with the meteor-rock episodes, and each time they disappoint me.

ENOUGH already! If they town hasn't gathered up and burned all the kryptonite to be found around that area right now they all deserve to die a fools death. The federal government should have swooped in an made the whole place a Superfund site by now!

It's a weak plot point. It always was a weak plot point, and it gets worse with every use. I cannot stand it any more. NO MORE KRYPTONITE!

Find some other excuse for plots. It's the DC universe! There are 100s of excuses to make people super powerful. Use one of them.

Thought it was a well done ep. About time they gave Pete some real face time again.

As to someone dying... it has happened before when Clark was involved. About the only difference I can see is this time a person he knew (gimmee a P!) was involved in said actions, of their own free will mind you, then ran to Clark to help him out.

What I wonder is this: Would Pete have gotten into racing if he was still in the dark as to Clarks abilities?

Purely rhetorical though...

Yeah, I was hoping myself.. but they've confirmed he isn't. Any plans they had for introducing Bruce Wayne this season were blown out of the water by the upcoming Batman movie; they were told 'this isn't going to happen'. Feh. Stupid licensing things.

I was half-hoping he'd tell her his real name was Richard Grayson :) But no, looks like he's going for some kind of vampire thing. Been dead, has weird blood.. maybe.

I was very interested in the biologist. Now Lex has someone else to look at Clark's blood. Does he still have that sample, at all?

And I did give a little yelp when Chloe mentioned her cousin :)

The producers promise 'more people from the DCU' and, I think, specifically from the Superman mythos this year, so... who, I wonder? I'd love to see Wally West. I'd love for the guy on the island to really be real, and turn out to be Oliver Queen: they've already established he's missing.

From the Superman mythos: Maybe a younger kid, who is Jimmy Olsen? We've seen many of the main performers: Perry, Lois has been mentioned, Prof Hamilton, ... hmm, so maybe some villain prototypes? Maybe Parasite.
