Siren (mermaid) Homebrew Race

First Post
So I am running a basic at home game of Dungeons and Dragons 5e for my brother, his wife and their friends. My brother's wife wasn't really keen on playing until I told her that I could remix the Triton for her to be able to play a Siren (she is obsessed with mermaids).

So, in addition to the Volo's Guide to Monster's race Triton, I added a few traits. Here goes:

Siren's Call: Advantage on Charisma (Persuasion) checks when attempting to persuade humanoids of the opposite gender.

Legs of Two Worlds: On land, you have humanoid limbs in which you walk upon (legs, 30 ft movement on land). In water, you have a magnificent scaled tail that you use to navigate deep waters. (mermaid tail, 35 ft. movement in water). It takes 1 minute for your body's lower half to transform when switching between land and water. You cannot force this transformation, your body simply transforms based on your surroundings. *note: raining does not cause your body to transform as your bottom half has to be submerged in water completely in order to transform*

Voice of an Angel: Double proficiency bonus for Charisma (Performance) checks that rely on singing.

That's all I have so far. I need feedback so that maybe I can edit, or should I add some more/take something away, etc? Thanks for the help :3

Why even change the rules? Why not simply change the name of the Triton to Siren and call it a day?

If she wants to have voice powers, the bard already offers this (both with musical magic and expertise in persuasion and performance).

Agreed on re-skinning the Triton -- no real changes needed.

It is important, though, that you give the character opportunities for her to do mermaid things -- that it's a waterbound adventure (on a ship, or a coastline, or underwater) and not a dungeon crawl.
