Shadow Touch from Relics and Rituals - Ok or Broken?

I think its ok. Of course, it almost gaurantees that most evil clerics and necromancers are going to have a bunch of shadows following them around, but that should be the case anyway. :)

I am a neutral wizard that just got his first level of shadow adept from the FRCS.

MY DM is rather open when it comes to new spells so I am sure he will let me take it. I just want to make sure I won't be overbalancing things by using it.

The spell is going to play havoc in the party if I do take it. We have a human paladin and a LG dwarven cleric. ;)

Actually, it's 1d6 +1 per 2 levels (max 1d6 +6) with a fort save for half.

This is a mage killer spell. They have bad fort saves and low strength. I think it's a little strong for the level because it will turn people into shadows. If you take that out, I think it';s a perfectly fine spell. If you leave that in I'd up it to level 5 (and increase the max to 1d6+10).

But without the turning into shadows part, its almost worse than ray of enfeeblement. Sure, Shadow Touch can actually drop someone to zero, but there's incredibly little difference between a zero strength and a one strength. The save negating the ray makes them even spells, considering you can't hit them from afar with the shadow touch.

The difference between a 0 Strength and a 1 Strength is that with a 0 Strength, the character can take no more actions.

True, but assuming you're carrying any gear whatsoever, you won't be doing much with a one strength either. 10.01 pounds is over your heavy load, and considering that an explorer's outfit weighs 8, I'm pretty sure most adventurers will be way overburdened.
