D&D 5E Shade race and Shadows/Shade Sorcerous Origin?

Hey everyone!! I am looking to recreate a 3E character who was a high level Drow Shade, and I am curious is someone has made a Shade race. If not perhaps we can discuss that here.

I am also curious is someone has made a Sorcerous Origin that revolved around shadows? I am looking for one that may evoke the Shade and shadows for the aforementioned character.

Thanks all!!

Shade 5E

Here is what I came up with using drow/elf and the Shade stats from 3E and 4E as a great base:

+2 chr and +1 to to int or dex
proficiency in stealth
Fey Trance and Fey Ancestry I have kept for simplicity, so far perhaps someone else can take a crack at theses
darkvision 120"
languages - common and undercommon
magic as drow @ 3rd and 5th

instead of wpn training I replace it with the following 2 abilities:
1st lvl - Mask of Shadows - may hide in dim, light, shadows, or lower light as a bonus action
7th level - Darkness spell regained after short or long rest and can see through magical darkness as normal

sunlight sensitivity (as drow)
Shadowborn: when recovering hd after rests your max HD is you max -1 with a minimum of 1 (levels 1-2);
when leveling you modify your hp rolled by making the the highest 2 number on the die equal to hd-1 (ie a d6 wizard gets 5 hp on a roll 5-6)

Sorcerous Origin: Shadow Touched

how about this for a sorcerers origin:

Sorcerous Origin: Shadow Touched
Your lineage at one point or another was steep in the magics of the Shadowfell. Perhaps you parents spent a long time there, your parents were shade, were worshippers of a powerful shadow or night entity, or a foul magics corrupted your bloodline.

1st: Armor of Shadows: your form is cloaked in everpresent or deeper shadows, or you always find yourself standing in a shadowy area, perhaps the shadows follow you?
Your ac when not wearing armor i-s 13+dex or chr and you may make stealth checks with advantage
6th: Shadow Step - as monk's Shadow Step Ability, Major Image is always prepared
14th One with Shadows: as monk's ability of same name
18th: Master of Shadows: shadow form (as polymorph??) Mirage Arcane is always prepared

I made some slight adjustments to the above 2 posts. The biggest is to the shade race stats, specifically the Shadowborn trait to have it make more sense.

Shade Biological Qualities

I am looking at what to do with Fey Trance and Fey Ancestry and I have a question about shades... do shades eat, sleep, breath, or are affected by poison or disease?

Does anyone know which book has a good write up for Shades is? Stats and culture etc, preferably 3E or earlier

I looked through that quickly and I do not see so much.
I am looking more for an Ecology of the Shades writing so I can work with fixing the Fey Ancestry and Fey Trance if that needs to even be fixed or this may be close enough for government work. =)

Hmmmm... that sounds like it is a really early Dragon Magazine article which most likely was talking about the 1E shade monster which is not like the current shade of the Forgotten Realms, if I remember correctly. I will see if I can find it though to take a look.
