Scabbard of Silversheen?

Ok, so I'm thinking about making a Scabbard of Silversheen. 3/day, your weapon is effected as if you used Silversheen on it.

I want to make sure I'm getting the price right. I'll start with Silversheen. It's a one use item, use activated that costs 250gp. According to the formula for figuring out the price for such an item, I'd take spell level * caster level * 50gp. To get spell level * caster level from that is simple algebra, 250/50 = 5 = spell level * caster level. Now we go over to use activated items and find that the cost for that is spell level * caster level * 2,000gp (Silversheen has a duration of 1 hour, so no additional modifier to price there). So taking the number from earlier, we get 5 * 2,000 = 10,000gp. Now, this is a 3 times/day item, so we divide by (5/3) to get 6,000gp. It's a slotless item, so we multiply the total cost by 2 to get a final price of 12,000gp. Provided I did everything right there, does the cost seem sound? For reference, the Scabbard of Keen Edges (Keen 3/day) is 16,000 gp.

That sounds about right to me.

I don't know if I'd double the cost for it being slotless. The potion is slotless as well, after all.

An Potion(Oil) of Keen Edge costs 750
Silversheen costs 250
So Silversheen is 1/3 the cost of Keen Edge Oil
So it would seem that a scabbard of Silversheen should be about 1/3 the cost of a Keen Edge scabbard
Which would be 5333
I'd probably go with your non-doubled price of 6000

Good point. Thanks!

I'd go with the doubled price, because Silversheen is inconvenient to use in combat -- Move action to whip it out & Standard action to apply, both attracting an AoO.

A potion of keen edge would double the drinker's threat range. Since it targets a weapon this makes the spell fail.

He said a potion(Oil). You apply an Oil to an item for it to be effective.

Oil of Keen Edge is equally inconvenient, is it not?

If so, then thompgc's analysis is reliable, the 1:3 ratio can be kept, and a price of 6000 gp for the scabbard of silversheen would be fair.
