RPG Systems for robotic characters

Which rpg system besides D20, Gurps and Rifts can do robotic characters? The idea is to do campgin in all-robotic worlds/settings. They can be either standard robots, techno-organic or biomechancial type robots. I am also wanting a system where the robots can be easily upgradable.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Champions/Hero System is pretty much tailor made for this sort of thing. Since I think you are talking about superheroic level characters and it is an almost infinitely flexible system in terms of achieving various effects. You just vary the disadvantages and or come up with some "packages" for the various types of bots and away you go.

To upgrade them, you just give them a few more points, either to spend as they wish or to improve an existing power.

What he said.

In hero system you could set up your robotics types as racial packages.

It need not be played as a superhero type game either.

Honestly any RPG could be used for what you want. It's just a question of how much work you want to do.

Most superhero games would probably handle this reasonably well, since they usualy don't care so much about what yoru character is, so much as what they can do. So, Mutants and Masterminds...

Mekton Zeta with Mekton Zeta Plus would work well, with a bit of tweaking to remove the distinction between pilot and mech.

Not really, that's what either the 'oid SMT or Internal Automation and Thought Control are for.

Ah. Been years since I played it... that makes it an even better fit for the OP than I thought.

I had to correct myself, since 'oid technically only covers artificial lifefrom type robots, but that's just fluff. If IA+TC makes a sentient machine. Despite the need to reskin, I'd probably build most player robots using 'oid rather then IA and TC as it's less fiddly.
