RPG DriveThrough Question

Sorry if this subject doesn't belong here; I wasn't even sure what category to name it so I went with Apps. Anyway, I have nevere downloaded or ordered PDF's before and RPG Drivethrough has a number of modules, etc. that I want to include in my campaign.

However, I have heard some serious negative things about DRM (is that correct?). Can someone please enlighten me as to what this does. Also, they say their PDF's are "watermarked." What does this mean?

What else should I know whether negative or positive? Thanks!

A watermark is a background picture, usually faded so it doesn't get in the way of text. The the pdf has a map, though, sometimes watermarks can interfere.

I recommend you wait a few weeks or a month on pdf purchases, as there's a merger between the major PDF suppliers (or, buy at the lowest price you can find before the prices jump).

I don't think so. AFAIK they use the watermark method now, since DRM wasn't exactly well-received by their customers. Or they have one or both available, depending on the company that is selling the PDFs.

I don't really buy PDFs, I prefer real books. :)

If the products you are looking for are watermarked, I wouldn't worry about it and would go ahead and make the purchase. I do not like the old DRM method, but I have purchased several watermarked items from DTRPG. Watermarking puts your name and the Drive-Thru RPG order number on the bottom of each page. It is meant to help stop pirating and is pretty non-intrusive.

Okay, that helps a lot. Will Drive-Thru RPG list the PDFs that have one or the other up front? I've attempted to access their website but it has been down, probably due to their merge with RPGNow.

Yes, on the page with the product.

I prefer watermarked and most are. The only ones I have grabbed that are DRM are WotC 3.x books. All the older WotC books are not DRM.

Side question: Anyone have the Adobe customer service number? I need to remove 3 work computers from my DRM passport account and their site is annoying as %#$! to wade through....
