Royal Charter of Cormyr (FR)

Hi all,

Tomorrow I will begin a new campaign based in Cormyr of the Forgotten Realms.

I'd like to create a Royal Charter to give the characters (I tend to use a lot of props like that, using various parchment paper with crazy fonts).

My question is, does anyone know what one should look like and how it should be worded?

Has anyone ever created one themselves, or seen one on a website somewhere?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm sort of creating the entire campaign last minute (I always do that..) and not having to search around would save me a huge amount of time.

Another idea is to look for a visual copy of an old royal charter for a privateer like the British used to hand out.

Assuming that you're talking about a charter for an adventuring band, there's some info in the Cormyr accesory that was published in 1994. Basically, it must list the name of the adventuring company and its members, and can only be obtained in three places: High Horn, Arabel, or Suzail, and must be signed by either the Lord Commander (of High Horn), the Warden of the Eastern Marches (in Arabal), the king, his Chancellor, or the Lord High Marshal in Suzail. I'd assume it'd be pretty basic. Something along the lines of:

The Company of the ___________, consisting of the members listed below, is registered to legally bear arms within the land of Cormyr.

The charter must be renewed anually.

the Group of Men and Women, consisting of Cade of Waterdeep, Earendil of Thay, Kubideh of The Savage Frontier, Duncan of Mulhorand, Sienna of The Lake of Steam, and Kerri Del-Bane of Impiltur, hereafter known as Eyes of the Eveningstar, are granted by Her Highness, Alusair Obarskyr, Regent of Cormyr, upon Request of Lord Tessaril Winter, Lord Mayor of Eveningstar, the Priveleges to journey within the Lands of Cormyr, be Exempt of all Traveling Taxes, and to carry Arms within the Lands of Cormyr, insofar as the Actions of Eyes of the Eveningstar do not oppose the Laws of the Land, as decreed by Her Highness, Alusair Obarskyr, Regent of Cormyr; furthermore, no Lord or Lady within the Lands of Cormyr may deny these Privileges to Eyes of the Eveningstar without due Cause, under Penalty of Treason to the Crown.
