Ring of Evasion?

Can you make use of a Ring of Evasion while wearing medium or heavy armor?

Ring of Evasion: This ring continually grants the wearer the ability to avoid damage as if she had evasion. Whenever she makes a Reflex saving throw to determine whether she takes half damage, a successful save results in no damage.

Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level and higher, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she makes a successful Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.

If you check the description of the Evasion ability, the armor restriction is for monks and rogues.

EVASION AND IMPROVED EVASION
These extraordinary abilities allow the target of an area attack to leap or twist out of the way. Rogues and monks have evasion and improved evasion as class features, but certain other creatures have these abilities, too.

If subjected to an attack that allows a Reflex save for half damage, a character with evasion takes no damage on a successful save.

As with a Reflex save for any creature, a character must have room to move in order to evade. A bound character or one squeezing through an area cannot use evasion.

As with a Reflex save for any creature, evasion is a reflexive ability. The character need not know that the attack is coming to use evasion.

Rogues and monks cannot use evasion in medium or heavy armor. Some creatures with the evasion ability as an innate quality do not have this limitation.

Improved evasion is like evasion, except that even on a failed saving throw the character takes only half damage.

A literal reading would suggest that someone with a Ring of Evasion can use evasion in medium or heavy armor, unless he's a rogue or a monk.

A less-literal reading would suggest that Evasion gained as a class feature of a rogue or monk cannot be used in medium or heavy armor, while Evasion gained elsewhere can (unless the source of the evasion indicates otherwise, which the ring does not), allowing the rogue with a ring to use the ring's evasion regardless of armor.

If the Ring stated "grants the wearer the ability to avoid damage as if she had evasion, like a rogue or monk", or something similar, it would restrict the ability, but it does not.

An even more literal (though most definitely less-widely-used) interperetation says that a Ring of Evasion doesn't actually grant the Evasion ability at all- rather, it's a ring that, when worn, allows you to ignore damage on a successful Reflex save. It works exactly like Evasion, but isn't actually Evasion. As such, it isn't necessarily subject to any limitations of the class feature, as it doesn't actually grant the class feature. (There have been times I've encountered when this is actually the better way to rule it, for balance purposes.)

From all the previous debates, I think the ruling is:

RAW: You can use it with any armor, unless you are a monk or rogue.

Common Sense: Either anyone can use it with any armor, or no one can use it with medium or heavy armor, take your pick.
