Question on Vampire Spawn

First Post
In the Monster Manual 3.0 (I don't have the 3.5), it doesn't mention any sort of advancement, nor does it mention anything about them retaining the skills and ability of their previous life. Could I reasonably make a Vampire Spawn level 7 wizard, or would need to find some template to use for that?
Thanks

According to stock D&D rules, basically, a humanoid below 5th level that is bitten by a vampire loses every memory of their past lives and becomes a Vampire Spawn . They have no memory of their former lives. If the person bitten by a vampire is 5th level or greater, you use the Vampire Template.

Since you want a 7th level vampire, he qualifies for the regular Vampire template. Why not just use that?

i think he is asking if he can add 7 levels of wizard onto a base vampire spawn. in some ways that would be more powerful than a vampire who is a 7th-level wizard, but in other ways not.

Libris Mortis has vampire spawn as a monster class. It says: "The best multiclass choices for a vampire spawn are fighter, rogue, sorceror, and wizard".

Does that help?
