Pronuctuation of 'mana'

I've heard two main ones, and am interested as to what the majority say.

Is it 'man-ah'
OR
Is it 'mar-nah'

You should have arranged this as a poll, then you would recieve better feedback. In diablo 2, it's pronouced Man-ah, with the a in man like the a in awe. I pronouce it man-ah, with man sounding like the English word.

How is the pronuciation of "mana" off topic to general rpg disscussion? Are there not many rpgs that use the term mana? Or is it the pronuciation part thats off topic? =P

I pronounce it man-eh, like the english word man, then eh.

But then I'm from Maine and I screw all kindsa word pronounciations up.

I think if I wasn't from Maine I'd pronounce it man-ah.

Actually the Polynesian pronounciation (it is a Polynesian word is more mar-nah with both a's pronounced like the a in far or tar but with the second a clipped

(and yes I am a fluent speaker of Maori - a Polynesian language)

of course it entered RPG speak through English contact so it might have transformed from its original form
