Power Critical: Broken?

Well, if you wanna pump feat after feat into making sure that any threat with one particular weapon is likely to be confirmed, more power to ya! :p

Seriously, our house rule for this one is no stacking, but I can't see the RAW version being that problematic.
 



The 3.0 one was Borken, the new one is not 'broken' in and of itself. Though comboed with a Falchon, Power attack, leap attack and improved crit it is guilty of aiding and abetting rediculous amounts of damage.
 

Hmm. IMX it's not too bad... a puny +4 to confirm threats? The crit specialists are usually that good at hitting that a +4 to the confirmation roll doesn't really matter.
 

The +4 to confirm is actually very weak. It occurs rarely and helps by at most 20% (theoretically less). It's rendered useless in common situations such as vs. oozes, elementals, and undead and rendered obsolete by other effects that automatically confirm a critical vs. certain opponents (e.g. a blessed weapon).

From personal experience, the (now) 17th-level fighter/ranger in my group took Power Critical at around 9th character level and the feat itself has been pretty much unimportant. It only mattered in my recollection in probably one case. Sure, the character made several more crit threats, but the +4 rarely impacted the crit. I would allow +6 or maybe even +8 if you put in some prereq's perhaps.

What was the 3.0 like? Also, wheres the leap attack feat at? (is it like the pounce attack feat?)

Once per day, before making an attack, declare you are using this feat. If that attack hits, it instead is a critical hit. Crazy borken with a high crit weapon.

IIRC, as long aas you cover a certain distance with a jump check while charging, your power attack damage increases to 3 for 1 with power attack and a two handed weapon. Thus a 5 point PA with a 2hander nets 15 damage as long as you make a very easy jump check.

3.0 Power Critical gave you 1x/day the ability to auto-crit.

Think about that for a minute. If it doesn't sound broken, the hint is X4 MULTIPLIERS. :)
