D&D 5E PDFs!

Come on WotC let's hear your PDF plans. A PDF would be really useful with the starter set adventure.
I know you got that Morningstar thing but who knows when that will be ready or exactly how it's going to work. The PDFs will work right now.

I want my PDFs.

Yeah, they have been silent about this. I guess it is a check DriveThruRPG on Tuesday and if it is there they are releasing it in PDF and if it isn't they are not.

I think they are working on something and I don't know if it is with this Morningstar or not. I really hope it produces PDFs and not some other format because I believe PDF readers will be around for the rest of my lifetime.

I really hope they release the core books in PDF because I am sure they will look very nice. But this silence is not good. They don't need to tell us their detailed plans, just if PDFs are in them.

I will say this though, they best not hold off on releasing the core books if they want me to purchase other 5th Edition books. That won't happen.

The thing's not even released yet (except WPN store advance copies)! At least wait until after the release date before asking for PDF versions! :)

If there were plans for a PDF version of the Starter Set, I assume we would have been told already. I can't see a good reason why they'd want to surprise us.

My guess is that the reason we haven't heard anything definitive about PDFs yet (either for the Starter or the PHB, etc.) is that either (a) they aren't intending to do them or (b) they're finalizing their approach.

I *really* hope it's (b) because I won't buy the new edition in hardcover.

Being vague about it is helping with piracy for the time being. A version of the Starter Set has not shown up yet, except for the monster appendix. Uploaders don't want to destroy a Starter Set to get a good scan, or go through all that work if they can just remove watermarks from a pdf and have a perfect copy soon.

WotC has two choices when it comes to PDFs: they can sell them or people will "find" them online. I love the new basic stuff, but if they don't get on the ground floor on this, they will lose money!

Well I'm hoping they're just finalizing details and timing at this point. They definitely have the files already; On multiple podcasts and recorded interviews Mike's said "I've got the Player's Handbook PDF open on my tablet|laptop blah blah blah" when talking about content and art, both times the interviewers joked that he can just send it over for their review. So I'm hopeful that it's just a matter of details.
