Has anyone seen this service?

www.payloadz.com

Interesting option for those who want to sell from their own sites. I need to read more to see how useful and feasible it may be, but just the fact that the option is there is cool, I think.

If you sell from your own site, doesn't RPGNow forbid you to have a link to your website from your RPGNow page?

(damn that's a convoluted sentence.)

I believe that is correct.

However, this would be great for press releases. For example, "Unothodox JoeShmoes is available now on rpgnow.com for $10.00, or you can get it directly from us at TheLeGames.com for just $8.00!" Since most people are at 30% royalties with rpgnow.com, it would work out to be the same.

Just a few sales would be enough to cover the monthly fee of $15.00 / 40mb of space. Not to mention the premium service works on a flat 15% fee.

This seems like a great product. If it looks good, I am going to run with it.

Here at Alternate Realities Publications, we're looking at simply using our own database-driven product catalog, the paypal shopping cart coupled with Linklok. We pay the paypal fee for credit card transactions, plus a one-time $30 fee for the linklok software. No monthly fees, no transaction limits, no storage space limits.

Admittedly, that doesn't offer all the features some of these other "sell-it-yourself" options provide, but it provides the basics of relatively safe transactions, credit card processing, secure file storage and automated email delivery. We do have a bonus, though. The catalog supports linking to all our sales outlets (paypal, rpgnow, arima, dbb, & e23 currently, plus provisions for paizo and dtrpg), so visitors can set a cookie to display only the links to their preferred shopping center.
