D&D 5E Paladins and Find Mount, what does the paladin get over other riders, if anything?

Looking over the vaugely worded Find Mount spell, I can't help but ponder just what, if anything a mounted paladin gets over a person normally riding a typical warhorse. How do folks around here treat the Spell / Paladin mount. Has any of the wotc crew commented on this spell?

Well the mount gets it's own initiative so that is different. It can also use any action it wants like the help action for instance.

The found steed is not only intelligent (and thus can be given it's head, meaning it can attack and not just move), but also fights as one with its rider (so you can get it to ready actions and efficiently split its go), and shares self only spells, like smites (double banishing smite!) and auras (double area aura of vitality)

Wow i did not consider smites that way. how cool.

If something kills all the horses, the paladin PC can get another one by using a spell slot.

If everyone left their horses behind when exploring caves, and then they find a mile-wide underground chamber, the Paladin can find a steed there.

It's like carrying a Swiss army knife with a "Steed" option.

And if your DM's feeling generous (and you're a high enough level), perhaps Find Steed lets you get stronger or more varied steeds. As a DM, I'd let you could summon a griffon, pegasus, or nightmare once you're powerful enough (although Nightmares would only really suit Oathbreakers and the most vicious Vengeance paladins).
