That is interesting. They definitely mentioned monster creation tools in one of the recent videos and a long time ago they mentioned an improved monster creation system versus what is in the 2014 DMG. I guess this can all be true and be done without a monster stats by CR table, but I am not sure how. I guess I have about a month to wait and find out!

The wee Kobold in the video speculates that it is probavly moved to the MM, which may make sense. Some general reorganization: it seems some Monster Lore was brought over to the DMG Lore Glossary, it might make sense to bring some Monater math to the MM.

Yep, I noticed that. However, they did suggest that there is something in the DMG. From the "What's New in the 2024 DMG" article on beyond:

"Need to create a background, creature, magic item, or spell to fit your story? This chapter walks you through the process. Just TPK'd your party? You'll find advice on how to handle the situation here."

People have speculated for a long time that the new rules might be in the MM, and that could be the case. I prefer that to ditching them completely!

I'm noticing that the video is showing enspelled armor can be used by noncasters, but that enspelled weapons requirement attunement by a spellcaster.

It will be interesting to see how it divides up in the end.

So, I watched the below video from The Pointy Hat detailing what changed woth the new DMG (very good overview, overall), and he had a few specific sections to critique where he felt the 2014 DMG sid a better job, namely: creature creation, dungeon creation, settlement creation and worldvuilding overall. Apparently, "create a creature" advice is limited guidelines for taking an existing stat block and resigning and altering it: no big math info. Still maaaaay be in the MM, buuuut...

Could also be in the monster manual instead of the DMG
