For those of us who like lighter, but still action-packed RPGs, I think we might have a credible new superhero RPG contender: Get Ready for Outgunned Superheroes

Will definitely be worth keeping an eye on this.

The rulebook will work by itself, or you can combine it with the core book, for folks who want Iron Man to fight John Wick.

Ah, so it can stand alone? I was wondering about that, since I'm not overly interested in the core rulebook. Very few games that I'm willing to buy multiple hardcovers for any more, and even less soon no doubt.

I have not read Outgunned. Can you give me the tl;dr version?
It's not yet released. The link goes to the crowdfund preview page. It's by Two Little Mice of Household fame, so I expect the art will be gorgeous, shipping will be murder, and the game itself? Well, Household didn't suck so my bet is it will be not bad to mildly great.

Yeah, it appears to be working like Outgunned: Adventure, which can be a supplement, adding new rules to the core game, or just be a standalone Indiana Jones/Nathan Drake game.

Outgunned is a dice pool game where characters are defined by tags. You try to get X of a kind on your rolls to trigger effects. It focuses on fast play with relatively light rules.

It spun out of Broken Compass, which they sold, created Outgunned using a more polished version of the system and created a game based around being an action movie hero, then released Outgunned: Adventure to replicate the Indiana Jones style of play of Broken Compass, then reacquired Broken Compass from the new owner who didn't do anything with it. And now we're on to superheroes.

So Broken Compass is back with Two Little Mice? Interesting. Wonder why it was sold in the first place and how much the re-acquisition cost. Probably profitable enough, since buybacks are cheaper.

I think the other company had big dreams of doing something with the brand and then ran into some sort of showstopping problems.

Three Little Mice, in the meantime, did Outgunned and Household, both of which seem to be doing well (they're certainly producing enough product for each) and were probably in a strong position to pick the brand back up. Since they already have Outgunned Adventure, it's not clear what will change now that the Broken Compass brand is back under their control.

This Kickstarter has gotten me to look into Outgunned: Adventure again. I had not realized that it was related to Broken Compass. I heard good things about Broken Compass but never got around to buying or playing it. Now I guess that I will have to wait until May 2025 to get my hands on Outgunned: Adventure. It looks like the sort of easy to play, fast-paced game that I could see my partner playing, and they love pulp adventure movies like Indiana Jones and The Mummy.

Broken Compass/Outgunned: Adventure begs to run games based on those. For Broken Compass, at least, the supernatural stuff was in the Golden Age sourcebook, which was their specific Indiana Jones-era book, while the core book (the Adventure Journal) was much more focused on Uncharted.

I don't know if Outgunned: Adventure has the supernatural stuff in it by default.
