Sorry for the min-rant, but I've been watching the SciFi channel all day, and I have to comment on a commercial for the movie Firestarter: Rekindled featuring Malcolm McDowell, one of the stars of the film.
Anyway, Mr. McDowell quotes from Robert Frost's famous poem, "Fire and Ice," which is rather cool--I wish there was more poetry on TV.
But the thing that gets my goat is the fact that he gets the lines from the poem wrong! Grrr!
He says:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Others say ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
When the actual poem reads:
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favour fire.
The change not only ruins the rhythm of the poem, but it indicates sloppy work to me. Certainly whoever came up with the idea to use the poem actually had a copy of the work to refer to....

Hmmm...I'm all fired up, as you can see.
