Og!! Caveman gaming

Crothian

First Post
I got to play in a game of Og this weekend using the new version by Firefly Games. It was a lot of fun. The game is very simple as one can expect from playing Cavemen. The toon of the game is funny and that fits in very well. I played a banging caveman and the concept behind them is rather simple. Any problem that one faces hit it with a stick. So we got attacked by a cave bear and I hit it with a stick. we came across some odd fruit so I hit it with a stick. We needed to cross a river and I hit it with a stick. Obviously my problem solving solution was not perfect but it made for a good afternoon.

One of the really neat things is that the game gives you a limited vocabulary. Each character can only speak a certain number of words and that uis determined randomly. We used the optional system of also picking what words we could speak from a hat. It made it tough to only know seven words and I was the character with the biggest vocabulary. Poor Joe only had three!!

I think Og is one of those games everyone needs to play once. It is a perfect con one shot game. Robin Laws did a great job with the new version.

You just described some of the first grade classes I used to teach.

"I make pee!"
"No want!"
"Math hard!"

there was a cavemen class in a Larp system i played in at Uni

you got one word per level, and of course you had to start with "og".

Imagine trying to describe a potential ambush using "Og", "Beer" & "Ouch".........

Is this game available in PDF form?

I'm heading up to Tahoe this weekend to celebrate my birthday with some friends... Sounds like it might be just the thing for a drunken fun night...

Damn it! You're making me want to spend more money. Bad Crothian! I've earmarked that money for Zombie Fluxx.

As RPGs go it is fairly cheap. Though I do admit that I am looking forward to seeing Zombie Fluxx as well.
