Neutral Outsiders

Good gods are served by celestials, evil gods by fiends. So what are neutral gods served by? Are there any neutral outsiders (apart from the LN ones)? Or would a true neutral deity be served by celestials, fiends and inevitables?

On the other hand, I never heard of rilmani serving any god. Maybe each neutral god uses whatever servants suit her best at the moment. I'm certain that some o them custom-design their minions...

That's currently my way of thinking. Our new party has 2 clerics in it and I'm trying to work out the divine servants they might encounter. Its easy for the cleric of Torm, loads of angels and archons!

But the giant cleric of Skoraeus Stonebones is a little trickier. I guess he'll be serviced by lots of giant type outsiders, perhaps giants with various templates (elemental earth or stone or something) and earth elementals.

Excuse my ignorance, but who (or what) are the Rilmani?
The rilmani are Outlands outsiders who embody a kind of zen "middle ground". They're the antithesis of conflict :). If a neutral deity's got that same bent, I don't see why they wouldn't lend their services (which would probably be wisdom and messenger stuff--they're not big fans of combat) to the god.

You could debate their philosophy and whether or not they'd ever swear allegiance to a god for eons. But if you want a neutral outsider in a D&D game, they're right there in the book*. If the PCs ask questions, be vague and mysterious...for who knows the inner workings of a "true neutral" mind? :)

*They live in the Fiend Folio.

Excuse my even greater and abysmal ignorance but... do for example fiends really serve any god? :heh:

Out of shared goals yes, but otherwise no :]

The good deities have the Aasimon who exist as servitors of the good powers. The Archons, Guardinals, and Eladrin only serve good deities when they have shared goals.

Evil gods are served by fiends only when it helps the fiends in question get something that they want. Yugoloths are perhaps an exception to this since they abhor the deities and generally want nothing to do with them.

LN: modrons don't really serve anyone but Primus. The inevitables however are made to order by a deity to give the DnD transformer'esque critter a mission on a per inevitable basis.

CN: Slaadi don't really serve anyone but their stomachs and whimsy, generally speaking.

True Neutral: Rilmani. The Rilmani serve whoever they must in order to preserve the balance, but it's always at their own volition generally speaking. Shared goals again. I know that Waukeen from FR occasionally had Rilmani in her employ since her domain was in the Outlands anyways, and she was N.
