Need Svirfneblin/Kobold names.

Okay, so I'll be starting a new campaign [hopefully soon] and the campaign will evolve mainly around Svirfneblin and Kobolds. Not that it's terribly important, but the players will be playing a couple of Gnomes who, along with the others, have been booted from the Underdark equiv. and are now working on trying to return to their ancient home beneath the ground.

However, I'm not particularly good at coming up with HUMAN names, let alone Gnome/Kobold names, let alone enough to populate the major NPCs that will be encountered.

Either good names for either races or directions to where such names already exist will be greatly appreciated by me and my players [It seems to disrupt the illusion of the game if the Gnomes and Kobolds have names like Bob, Thomas, or Zeke, go figure.]

Zeke is kind of a good gnome name, actually, so long as it's a shortened version of a much longer name.

I think the Races of Stone gnome name generator is actually pretty good. There was one in Dragon a few years ago as well.

I don't know why but I've got a habit of nameing just about every critter my players come across, it's actully quite a shame when they get slaughterd :\ .

Just to throw out some random gook words, how about...

Sekas
Set
Kix
Betak
Taskat
Rethis
Mosa
Dremu
Gethen
Mavasu
Skess
Skessan
Attiv
Fegis
Gumar

I don't know if their any good or what race they'd be for but blurting out a short list dosen't take long. Anything you like in there?

My campaign has a svirfneblin named Garthos. I'd look a slavic nicknames (e.g. xasha, sveta) for others, maybe even to the point of adding -itchka or -inka as a term or endearment. As for kobolds, I hear their speach discribed a yippy, so I'd go for one-sylable names with no sbilants and a had ending. E.g. Gark, Skak, Vert, Bip, Bart (have to have the occasional humorous crossover name).

Thanks, everyone. I do see some names here that I like, though whether they'll be used by the Svirfneblin or Kobolds remain to be seen.

This could definitely be interesting, themed names. It does seem to make a little more sense than everyone having random names. I think I might go looking for a site with names from different places in the world to do this better.

Oh, and by the way, we are in the same town. Let me know if you have any openings, as my last campaign recently died.

I'd love to say come on by and join my group, but my group is currently having some troubles, mainly that we're now down to three players [darned people moving away or joining the army] and one of those people can't make it at the moment because he just got a job where he works on the day we meet. I'm not sure what's going on [I'm working on my campaign so when we do finally get back together, we'll actually have something to play], but if you haven't found another group by then, I can let you know when we're playing if you're still interested.
