Need help with a Wizard vs. Blind condition

So, in 2.5 years of playing my pyromaniacally obsessed wizard I had never run into the problem of being blinded, until last night.

I then discovered that as a condition it cannot be simply dispelled and that I was pretty much hosed as I couldn't target anything.

This particular character is somewhat paranoid and prides himself and being prepared for situations like this, needless to say he is a bit annoyed right now:)

So I am appealing to the brilliance of EN to help me figure out a solution or counter to the blind condition that a 13th level invoker (Ench/Illus banned) playing under 3.5 can pull off.

Arcane Eye. True Seeing. Arguably Darkvision, but only in the dark. :)

A Limited Wish could replicate Remove Blindness.

The name of your solution is this: Beg a cleric. :)

At 13th level, surely you must have access to a 5th level cleric somewhere, say perhaps within the party?

If for some reason, he is adventuring alone, then he's screwed. The only possible hope is a clairvoyance spell, but even that's limited in duration, and if you don't have one prepared, best of luck in preparing one while blind. If you have clairvoyance Spell Mastery, then you are the luckiest person alive.

But basically, seeking a 5th level cleric, a 3rd level Eberron Artificer, or a 12th level Paladin is the best you can do.

We do have a party cleric but the blindness was a surprise (as in first time in 2.5 years)so the spell was not prepared. Thanks for the suggestions.

Any paranoiac wizard worth his salt should have prying eyes active during operating hours. It might not be a long term solution, but it can get you out of many a tight spot.

How was your PC rendered blind? I assume it's not by the spell (Blindness/Deafness), since that can be dispelled (the duration is "Permanent", not "Instantaneous").

I'd agree - the big thing is "what blinded you??"

If it's a magical effect, then you can get rid of it by either
a) Dispelling it (because blindness/deafness is permanent and thus dispellable)
b) Forcing the caster to remove it (because it is (D), or dismissable)
c) If dispel just doesn't work (ie - it's an instant magical effect), you can use "remove enchantment"

If it's some sort of odd non-magical wound effect then you can

*get "cure blindness"

*polymorph into things (which would then have their full senses). Unfortunately 'polymorph any object' into "me with working eyes" is too high level for you.

*use the 'statue' spell and then use a silent, still stoneshape to put your eyeballs back (although there's probably a 30% chance of failure).

*You could cast a permanent darkvision. The spell makes no mention of the target requiring normal sight for it to work.

1. I'm the Cleric and I did prepare Cure Blindness for that day... But the spell was traded out for healing before we entered the situation. Granted, knowing beforehand that anybody we would end up fighting would be people who worship the "Blinding Light", I probably should have held it in reserve... But at the time, getting people back up near full health seemed more important. (If I had been thinking more clearly, I would have cast the spell on his Familiar, which had been blinded in the previous encounter... Thus keeping him from seeing through it once he had been blinded himself.)

2. The blindness was not caused by the Blindness spell. It was a side effect of a spell which caused an explosion which was very very bright, and thus not magical in and of itself (the blindness that is). The thinking being along the lines that if somebody stabs you with a magical knife, or burns you with magical fire, you can't dispel the wounds that result.

Or turns you into a non-magical statue.

Which can be reversed with break enchantment.

As far as I can tell it was a side effect from failing a save on an instantaneous spell, sort of like a fireball with a blinding flash of holy light by description.

Would Break Enchantment work in this case I couldn't find anything in it about Blindness?
