Moradin's Gauntlet (toa)

CapnZapp

Legend
This is just described as a relic. Probably priceless to dwarves.

What I would like, however, is to start it up to do something, in the 10000 gp range.

I'm intending to allow my party to loot Hrakhamer, and to justify that Musharib the Wild Dwarf allows this, I want Moradin's Gauntlet to be a significant share of the total loot.

Just slapping a price tag on it ("it's worth as much alone as all the bars in the vault") feels... lazy. Art objects (that lack magical properties) are seldom worth five figure numbers.

Ideally you will point me to a canon Gauntlet with Dwarf connections (that would be Very Rare in 5e terms).

Barring that, any suggestions on how to spice this up in order to make a gp cost of 10,000 gp believable would be appreciated ☺

Could base it on the Gauntlet of the Dwarven Forge
This iron gauntlet extends to the elbow and is always cool to the wearer's touch. With a command word, a gauntlet of the dwarven forge glows red-hot for 1 minute, illuminating everything within 10 feet as if by torchlight. Anyone else touched by the gauntlet during this time takes 1d6+10 fire damage. The wearer of a gauntlet of the dwarven forge takes half damage from fire-based attacks while the gauntlet glows. For attacks that deal half damage with a successful Reflex save, the gauntlet's wearer takes no damage on a save.

This is what I ended up with. Just wanted to share.

MORADIN'S GAUNTLET (requires attunement)
Treat as either a Club or Unarmed. You have a bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon: the bonus is half your proficiency bonus.

The gauntlet empowers you to cast a number of spells. Instead of using your own spell slots, roll 2d6 each sunrise to determine the total number of spell levels available that day. When these levels are used up, the gauntlet's spells can't be used more that day. Unused spell levels disappear and don't stack. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells. The spells you can cast this way are:
3rd level: Crusader's Mantle
2nd level: Animal Messenger, Locate Animals or Plants
1st level: Ensnaring Strike (gauntlet attacks only), Shield of Faith, and Wild Cunning.

If you are a Dwarf, you can have the Gauntlet maintain concentration on one of its spells for you (treat spell as no concentration required). The gauntlet can only do this for one spell at any given time.

Furthermore, you gain one use of Channel Divinity: Charm Animals and Plants (as per Cleric Nature domain) each day. If you already have Channel Divinity as a class feature, you gain one extra use of Channel Divinity each day, and you gain Charm Animals and Plants as a new effect.
