I know its sacrilege, but I have wondered if a system where instead of HP a critical hit allowed called shots against Con (bleed wounds), Dex (leg wounds) Str (limb wounds) and Wis (Head wounds) might work. Players could reduce wounds by taking a consequence (stunned, deafened, blinded, bleeding etc)Attacking stats is basically sacrilege, IMO.
