Mass Effect?

How's GR's Dragon Age RPG doing? I hear it has Set 2, or something releasing for it?

I never really got into DA, but Mass Effect is one of my fav CRPG. ME seems to be a more popular game for BioWare than DA, has there been any rumblings that Green Ronin or someone else might pick up the license? Just seems like a no-brainer to me....

I don't believe it's something that's currently being worked on, but I've always felt like Mass Effect has a universe that would lend itself really well to a P&P RPG. Lots of vibrant and diverse lore.

I wouldn't be surprised if we something eventually.

At one time, there was a pretty extensive set of house rules for Mass Effect in Star Wars Saga Edition over at WotC's SWSE boards. I don't know if they're still around, though.

Ooh, even better than SWSE, it's Savage Worlds, which is what I was considering myself. Thanks for the link!

I don't know about better, just different ;)

Thanks for the link, looks like I'll have to add this to my list of SW games to run this summer

Here's a link to the thread where the rules adaptations were being worked on. Unfortunately, the link to the compiled-rules PDF in the first post is no longer working, but the thread should still be worth trawling for ideas if you like using the ruleset.

I thought about this a few years back. I found it strange that nobody had yeah tried to turn Mass Effect into an rpg. Then further considering it I came to the realisation that pitching a Scifi rpg (even one with many fantasy elements in it) is a far riskier financial option for a publisher than another germanic fantasy esque rpg. A lot of gamers wont even look at a non fantasy rpg.

Its a shame really, Between Cerberus, the Shadow Broker, Quarians, Geth, Asari, Krogan and Reapers there is a wealth of background and potential there.

I know. The silly thing is, games that are sci-fi/fantasy are often basically the same things with different trappings.

You are a human [warrior/soldier]. Your friends are: a [elven/asari] [wizard/adept], a [dwarven/krugan] [priest/vanguard] and a [halfling/quarian] [rogue/infiltrator]. You are on a mission to save the [kingdom/galaxy] from the evil invading [orcs/geth], but in the meantime, you're [on horseback/in a spaceship], on your way to to that [dungeon/planet], where it is said you will find a [magical artifact/new technology] that will help you in your desperate cause.

Indeed, it has little to do with being sci-fi or not, the setting is spectacular. And while I agree that many people, despite the above, shy away from sf simply because it's sf, I think Mass Effect is certainly popular enough to garner a lot of attention.
