D&D General Mapach names

Hello, I am planning my first campaign and I'm looking for a name for Mapach.... I'd really love to know more about the requirements for creating names. Do you have any good examples from your experience that you could share with me? I'd be so grateful!

Thanks in advance!

For those not knowing what a mapach is, like I was, it is a raccoon-folk race from the Humblewood book. I could not find anything on names with a simple Google check.

I would go with simple names, maybe taken from nature, but not need to be since they seem to have tool ability and civilization. Names such as; Salt, Pepper, Thistle, even Tinker, Mason, or Potter would work for me. I always found that long, strange names do not work for the players or the DM.

Chick-Chack or Ripple-Screech might sound alright, but would just be shortened or made fun of. Some games might like that though.

Tnanx aco175!
I looked even deeper into the bowels of the forums and YouTube. It's basically like you said: natural origin and short name length. I also found that the length is about 1-2 syllables and contain easy-to-pronounce sounds. If anyone is interested, I'll share the name I chose for my Mapach: Bippin.

My cousin recommended this generator to me while we were playing yesterday. Perhaps someone else could use it!

Since Humblewood seems to take a leaf from Redwall and Mouseguard, might be worth looking into name generators for those. Note they're not specific to racoons/mapach, but should work for them.

One I found: Redwall Name Generator
This one gives not only a name, but a short character idea: Bea's Redwall Character Generator

And this is the motherlode of name generators: https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/
These generators are really great, too. Thank you so much. I'll save it!
