first use this alphabet

Connect them simply to make stuff like this

arrange them like puzzle pieces to make legible symbols (the letters and even sequenbce are still there)

This easily makes glyphs and symbols, kinda like chinese

Another fun one is creating sigils using magic squares.

I first read about them in Three Books of Occult Philosophy by Cornelius Agrippa. There is a fair amount of gaming material that can be stolen from that book. Very good material for Binders in Tome of Magic.

If the party knows the magic square used they can work the sigil backwards to learn a name.
