Lust is to Succubus as Greed is to.. Um.. Greedcubus? Help!

First Post
Pride, Greed, Sloth, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony, Lust, the deadly seven.

We've all been told that demons corrupt mortals to sin, but not everyone knows that there's a hierarchy to hell (sort of like a pyramid scheme, I believe). Each of the 7 deadly sins has a following of demons dedicated to its furtherment. However, the only well known breeds are those of Lust, the Incubi and Succubi (arguibly the same type, actually)

What I'm looking for, for a game that might get written up as a story sometime, is the names of the other 6 types of demons. I've searched Google, and found many references to specific demons of each type, but I haven't found a damn thing (mind the pun) about the types themselves.

If such names don't exist, I supose I could always go and create them, but I'm no Latin scholar, and I don't know how to make up words that sound authentic. I have found Latin translations of the Seven Deadly Sins, and I figure these words are a good place to start. However, I need derivations, not direct translations. I've read that 'Incubus' and 'Succubus' come from the Latin for "to lay atop" and "to lay beneath" respectively, and have nothing to do at all with the latin word for lust, luxuria.

Greed/Avarice = avaritia
Envy/Jealousy = invidia
Gluttony = gula
Lust/Lewdness = luxuria
Pride/Vanity/Hubris = superbia
Sloth/Apathy = acedia
Wrath/Hatred = ira

If the names of the different breeds of demons don't exist, this would be a decent place to start. What I'm asking you, oh wonderful ENworlders, is to help me find or make these names. I've exhausted my Googling ability, and I have no latin dictionary, so I'm putting this neat idea to you. Please help.

Have you checked out Green Ronin's The Book of Fiends? They went with a more traditional D&D approach to devils and demons, but the daemons fit into this idea right nicely. Although they don't have pseudo-Latin names...

arguable sin assignments

Wrath: balor, vrock, bebilith, hezrou,
Gluttony: Nalfeshnee (boar aspect)
Lust: succubi
Sloth: dretch
Envy: Babau, quasit,
Greed: Glabrezu, retriever
Pride: Marilith, (Nalfeshnees?)

In the review section, under the publisher name green ronin, or doing a search on book of fiends in the review section of the site. I believe there are multiple reviews.

Well, the Master ofthe 17th Review will certanly do! I'll check that out. It'll probably have some cool ideas for what the Demon Types would be like, but Yugoloths tend to have strange names that I doubt I'd use. I'm still open to other suggestions.

Gluttony = gula

Gorgolator/Gorgulator might work as a faux-Latin name for a demon of Gluttony (replace -ator with -atrix for a female version of the demon). Perhaps modify it to Gorgolith/Gorgulith for a more Tanar'ri-ish feel.

mea maxima culpa, Latin scholars, for corrupting the language like that :)

Glabrezu definitely was my first choice for Greed. I like Glabrezus.

Nice start! Gorgolith sounds very cool, and very Yugoloth-ey. Any idea how that would roughly translate to English, or is it jibbrish?
