Low Level Magic Item for a Paladin?

I'm DMing Lost Mine of Phandelver, and going to hand out some magic items to my level 4 party consisting of a Paladin, Wizard, Rogue, and Sorcerer. For the Wizard I'm giving a Hat of Wizardry from Xanathar's, for the Sorc a helmet that lets you cast Thaumaturgy 3 times a day while wearing it, and for the Rogue a dagger that you can use a bonus action to transform between a dagger and a tattoo on your forearm.

I was going to give the Paladin a Ruby of the War Mage, but I just realized that since his holy symbol is on his shield, this literally doesn't let him do anything he couldn't already do. What would be a good replacement (could be something from Xanathar's or a homebrew item, just looking for something in line with what I'm giving the other party members). spell.

Perhaps a ring inscribed with his holy symbol that, when worn by a member of the faithful, allows the wearer to cast Spare the Dying 3/day.
 

A magic item I used in a recent campaign for a Paladin player of mine:

Warhammer of Loyalty
Whenever the Paladin uses his Smite ability, one ally of his choice (other than himself) within 30 feet also heals equal to twice the number of Smite Damage Dice rolled.

My campaign didn't have a lot of healing in it, so if yours does, you may want to reduce that to just equal to the number of Smite Damage Dice rolled instead of double. This made it so the paladin didn't have to consider saving as many spell slots for Cure spells as he otherwise would have (slightly).

Not sure if it's in line with how minor of items you're intending, but thought I'd share regardless - cheers
 

A handy item would be something like a blanket that allows him to wear armor while sleeping and not be penalized, or armor that teleports onto him.

A useful item may be +0 weapon that can be thrown or grants +1 to any roll 1/rest to anyone within 30ft. I have always found that +1 more makes a great deal of things happen, weather it is to hit or to make a save.
 

Something like this, maybe:

Gloves of the Order
Cure Wounds 1/Day
The Paladin can use 10(?) points of Lay of Hands to cast Protection from Evil on an ally.
 





Sword of Lesser Smiting
Rare, weapon (sword), attunement (paladin)
Allows a paladin to cast green-flame blade or booming blade (just one, not both) using the sword of lesser smiting as the weapon for the weapon attack part of the cantrip.
