D&D (2024) Lots of new Lance options

ECMO3

Legend
Lance now works with GWM and PAM and works with a shield if mounted.

They did nerf the damage from 1d12 to 1d10, but it is probably one of the best martial builds now - strength based little PC mounted on a medium sized mount with a shield and a Lance.

That is certainly an amusing character concept. A Halfling paladin knight riding a large mastiff good boi named "Sir Truffalufficus III".

FWIW, because Lance is not Two-Handed when mounted, you can use it with Dual-Wielder.
I’m not sure “Two-handed (unless mounted)” would really qualify as a weapon that lacks the two-handed property… It could certainly be read that way, but I think you could also easily interpret it as always having the two-handed property, but only applying that property when you aren’t mounted.

I don't know about the 2024 rules, but as per 2014 rules lance does not have the "two handed" property. Instead it has the "special" property, with this text: "a lance requires two hands to wield when you aren't mounted".

As per rules, it is not a two handed weapon, it is a one handed weapon that requires two hands to wield when not mounted. Which makes it eligible for the Duel Wielder feat.

2024 gives it the two-handed property, but I'd still allow double lances while mounted.

Double lances is silly whichever way round you word it (as is using a lance in any sort of confined space like a dungeon).

The RAI is that you can use lance and shield whilst mounted.
It may be silly but my dream is for players to dual-wield great weapons in combat against the many messed up things I have planned for them. So if a player ever comes to me with a two-lance build, it's in.

In the 2024 rules, in the weapons table, under the properties column, it lists “Two-handed (unless mounted)”, which is why I said that.
