Lost Boys/Santa Carla RPG Sourcebook?

Angel Tarragon

I am wondering if there was ever an RPG sourcebook done for this movie. I have inspiration to do something with Santa Carla and the less work I have to do, the better.

Alas, no. I still think Eden Studios should create a single Cinematic Horror core book and just do one-off books like Lost Boys to supplement it, White Wolf style.

Eden's recent production schedule reminds me of GoO's shortly before they closed their doors -- lots of IP licenses purchased, lots of products delayed indefinitely, etc. I'd love to see them publish anything at this point in time :(

If someone were going to doa sourcebook like this, I know what the tag should be:

Grandpa: One thing about living in Santa Carla I never could stomach, all the damn vampires.

Good line. Sums it up nicely. But you have to admit, for the character-creation chapter there are several other good ones:

Michael: Any jobs around here?
Random guy: Nothin' legal.

Edgar Frog: We're fighters for Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
Sam: (sarcastically) All riiiight.

And then a photo of the billboard's back side as the car drove past it- with the graffiti saying "MURDER CAPITOL OF THE WORLD." :D Eh, maybe that's better for an opening to the setting background chapter.

Get a city map of Santa Cruz, CA and a phone book with yellow pages for same. Then you're halfway there. (Visiting there once and checking out the boardwalk would be good research, as well. You'll quickly find SC is a city designed by people on drugs for people on drugs.)

Then pick a system. Buffy and WoD would probably work (although WoD is probably a little too "serious" in tone), and Savage Worlds would probably do nicely - get the Rippers campaign setting and set it in 80's SC instead of 1800's London.

For the Monsters section:

"Holy s**t! The Attack of Eddy Munster!"

In terms of quotability, Lost Boys is right up there with Army of Darkness and Big Trouble in Little China.

You know, Lost Boys wasn't so bad of a movie, except there are two things I've never forgiven it for. One, it made The Corey's think they were something special, and thus kept their careers alive far longer than necessary. And two, it came out the same summer as Near Dark, a far superior vampire flick, and completely overshadowed it.
