Looking for Rome vs Barbarians Setting

Nya

First Post
OK, long time lurker, first time poster, so don`t be mad at me if that is the wrong corner to ask that question :-)

I am looking for a setting or source material for a barbarians versus rome setting with the player characters being the barbarians.
I had a look at Eternal Rome and liked it so far, but it is not what I want.

Is there a setting, adventure or any source material detailing the Germanic Wars or similar stuff?

While it doesn't really cover german tribes, you might want to check out 43 AD which is set on britannia during the Roman invasion under Claudius. It is a very good sourcebook and rog.

A while back i did some articles for my servamts of gaius game dealing with german tribes. Will see if i can track them down.

EDIT: I no longer have the articl, but it was an adventure called Castra Novesium and founf in an issue of Game Geek (believe this one: http://www.rpgnow.com/product/104369/Game-Geek-Issues-32?term=Game+geek+issue+32). Set in germania, focuses on happenings at a Roman Fort. Has supernatural elements.

Great hints, i just bought the AD&D Books and started looking through them, not to bad actually!
The Celts Book is interesting, too.
After reading that, i think i am going to buy the Game Geek Issue, too. It is quite cheap :-)

The green books are awesome. Glory of Rome is a good one if you can find it.

There is also Weird Wars Rome, for Savage Worlds, that has just been recently released.
It would mainly be from the Roman perspective instead of the Germanic tribes side, but it has a full plot point campaign, and supplemental material.

I got a bit of the Savage Worlds stuff, some i like, some i really don`t.

Is the setting any good?
I just don`t want to give it a shot without any opinions :-)

Wierd Wars Rome

I like it and picked it up. It has enough background info to make me feel like I can run a campaign set in Ancient Rome and I liked the plot point campaigns in the back. It is set up so you can run a campaign over generations, and then can even tie it to events in the other Weird Wars series.
I think it was pretty well done, and its cheap.
Its done by the Savage Worlds creators and Pinnacle Studios, rather than a 3rd party so I think the quality is better.

There is a you tube review by Game Geeks if you want thorough review.

Weird Wars Rome is aimed at a legion-based campaign and has decent historical information but does assume Weirdness is possible. My review on the blog here:
http://towerofzenopus.blogspot.com/2013/09/weird-wars-rome.html

Besides this there was a small game ten years ago or so called "Fulminata" which was an alternate history roman game. Not sure how useful that would really be if you want to stay generally historical.

The best game-book type resource IMO is GURPS: Imperial Rome. It's a broader view of Rome than Weird Wars. It's a handy one-book resource regardless of system.
