Leadership & Dragon Cohort?

This is not asking if you think the Leadership feat is broken.

This is asking if, by RAW, you could have both the Leadership and Dragon Cohort feats to grant you 2 Cohorts (one dragon and one not)...

...or if the Dragon Cohort feat allows you to replace your cohort from Leadership Skill with a Dragon one.

I thought D.C. required leadership and merely reduced the dragon's effective character level for purposes of gaining one as a cohort.

I could understand how one would interpret that.

Thing is, having the Leadership feat is NOT a prereq. for the Dragon Cohort feat. Character level 9th, Speak Language (Draconic) are they only requirements. It then says you gain a Cohort from the table of Dragon Cohorts, which has nifty options.

Therefore, one could take the Dragon Cohort feat to gain a dragon cohort. Without the Leadership feat, as per RAW, or so it seems.

Therefore, taking the leadership feat in addition should function separately, providing another, more standard cohort.

Or so I'm thinking... but this sounds ridiculous.

If your DM allows it.

Remember that Leadership & Cohort rule is not meant for min-maxing. It is there to complement the lacking talent in a certain party and/or for role playing reason.

It's my understanding that most of the written material wasn't MEANT for min-maxing... Doesn't stop those of us from actually doing it.

All the same, I looked into this for This Thread Here. The Cohort is an Expert/Exemplar, and the dragon is a Psuedodragon. Trying not to abuse the system TOO much.

I say sure, have 2 cohorts. I'm not your DM so go ahead and abuse the system all you want! But you are giving Ohio gamers a bad reputation. ;)

I haven't looked at my 3rd Edition books in a while, but -if what you posted is the text- I don't see anything which precludes taking both feats.

If you're looking to go hog wild with cohorts and followers, have your dragon cohort take the dragon cohort feat when it levels up and then gain another one.
