Killing a Quori

Minosis

First Post
I play a Kalashtar in an Ebberron campaign. Whe nyou kill an inspired the Quori spirit just jumps to to the ethereal plane and then runs to the nearest Chosen and re-inhabits.

Is there any way to stop this?

Is there any way to follow it to the ethereal plane and kill it there?

Since it is an other plane being would killing it in the ethereal plane even do anything except send it back to Dal Quor?

Even if you do kill them they will be instantly reincarnated as lowest level quo.

The best way to deal with quori is to trap them...

There is an item or two in secrets of xendrik, or you could figure out how to make elan.

EDIT: I think maybe the best solution would be if you could find something that eats them or consumes their energy...and strike an agreement.

Killing a quori is very tough, and purposefully so. However, don't think that killing a Chosen is a meaningless blow. Each quori can only easily possess chosen from a specific bloodline, carefully bred over many centuries. The "nearest Chosen" of the proper bloodline may be so far away as to be effectively out of the adventure.

Your options really depend on your group's level and the spellcasting classes you have.

Also remember that killing a quori permanently is something the rest of them will take very, very seriously. That's a fight you don't want to start until you're sure you have enough mojo to stand against everything they will throw at you.

Thanks Wolf, where is the info you mentioned about the proper bloodline located? My GM seem to think that a quori could inhabit any Chosen.

Follow up to the comment about blocking the quori on the Prime Material, would dimensional anchor at teh Chosen prevent the Quori from escaping when the Chosen died?

Races of Eberron is a good source, but I think a careful reading of the Eberron Campaign Setting will get you there.

Also, the following two articles on the Wizards of the Coast site should be required reading for anyone in a Dreaming Dark centered campaign.

Reach of Riedra Part One

Reach of Riedra Part Two

Nope. Something you should realize is that the quori possessing the Inspired aren't "really" there. They are projecting their minds to Eberron, but they still have physical bodies sitting back in Dal Quor. You can sever the connection, but their minds just pop back to their bodies.

However, a key point to remember as a Kalashtar is that you don't have to kill the quori to win. You only have to outlast them. Some day the dream of the age will change and every quori will die/change. This is the inevitable, natural course of events. The quori are the ones trying to upset the natural order and freeze the dream of the age permanently.

They have to win to survive. The Kalashtar only have to not lose.

Also, killing an Inspired host, while it doesn't harm the Quori physically, does set them back in terms of all the years spent training that host.

You can block possession with protection from evil and the like. You could also effectively take out a Quori by trapping it in the host (flesh to stone, for example).
