Job Interview - "What are your hobbies?"

So how do you answer this question?
I was asked this in an interview last Friday. My response? I read, and play sports. Which is true, but socially I play D&D more than another other activity.

Of course, I want the job so I didn't say that.

I've always admitted to my hobby in job interviews. I doubt I've bnot gotten a job because of it, but I know of one job I got becasue of I am a gamer. The interviewer was also a gamer.

Crothian, one of your hobbies shouldn't be mentioned in a job interview, though:

Spending countless hours at work posting to RPG message boards... :o

here's to working for yourself, even with all the hassles!

more taxes(at least more to bear alone), insurance problems, scheduling conflicts, all-hours management of the career, blisters and burns, did i mention the tax thing?, all worth it. (most of the time;) )

It shows that I can spend countless hours in front of a computer screen going over meaningless peices of text and digesting their contents. :D

Why?

Good call not admitting to Rpg'ing in an interview.

Why? Is gaming something to be ashamed of? Is there something wrong with gaming?

Lying during a job interview, even by omission, strikes me as indicative of a lack of character. Could be wrong, since I don't know anyone here, but again: Why not just tell the truth?

I've never concealed the fact that I RPG, collect comics, read, et cetera, when the subject of hobbies has come up. If someone doesn't like my hobbies, that is their problem not mine. If someone isn't going to hire me because they don't like my hobbies, I don't want to work for them.

Depends on the situation, Mark.

I admit I game when I apply for jobs like working in the book depository like I do now... That's fine. No real problem. If I were to apply for a job like... oh... I dunno, anything at a very ridged corporate environment or something, I might hesitate. Esp. if the company is very... traditional, or something.

Job interviews are too political to tell the truth about everything.

Also depends on the area... where I live now? I could get away with it. In the Bible Belt? Then, maybe, you might not want to bring it up. Just like in the Bible Belt you probably shouldn't say "I'm a pagan!" if they ask what religion you are (Not that they should ask that question in the first place, but it does get ask sometimes) in the bible belt.
