Item to resist Charm?

Fangor the Fierce

First Post
I am wanting to know of any magical/wonderous/whatever item that would enable a character to resist Charm spells or tings of that nature.

It has been a 'worst case scenario' that could have actually happened recently in the campaign I am in currently. My Fighter6/Barbarian2, who was under a Protection from Evil spell, could have been targeted and charmed by the outsider we were fighting. had the spell not been in play. That brought about the discussion of the worst case scenario. My guy has a spiked chain, 4 AoO's, and a cloak of archnida. Needless to say, a simple charm speel could charm him, and he could then be told to make sure the other characters don't interfere. He would then cast WEB (1/day as per Cloak of Arachnida) on the party, and then simply walk through the web (Cloak again...) while disarming the group and tying them up easily. (Disarm is a whopping +19)

So as you can see, we are trying to limit the chances that this could happen, and would like to know of any items that would aid this guy in resisting charms.

Thanks!!!

Ask your cleric to cast magic circle against evil on you, extended if he can. It'll last about 3 hours at your level.

A minor ring of spell storing, loaded with protection from evil or magic circle against evil could also do the trick.

It'd require DM approval but, if you can manage to get it DM-approved and commissioned in game, you want a Helm of Protection Against Evil.

That would be sweet. But how much would such an item cost? Prot evil is a complex and pretty powerful spell...

What of being charmed by non-evil opponents?

I'd just up the will save. Or a tinfoil hat!

See, now a tin foil hat would be useful. Like, say, a helm of Mind Blank.
But that's a LONG way from now.

Hey, what if we just gave him a tinfoil hat and told him it would work,,, O_O

I'm not certain how much such an item would cost, I must admit. As a DM, the one great gaping hole in my rules knowledge is Item Creation. :o

I suggested the item because I recall reading about how incredibly useful it was to Wulf Ratbane, in the Story Hour of the same name.

How about a lead helmet? Oh, wait, that's against divination. :D

Hmmm... Interesting thought. It would probably block detect thoughts, although someone scrying you would see a headless body. :)

Note that Protection from Evil does NOT stop Charm Person/Monster.

It only stops spells which direction control you (Dominate). Only 2 spells in the PHB are actually prevented by Protection from Evil, which makes sense considering its only a first level spell.
