Is thieves' cant in 3/3.5?

It's not mentioned anywhere in the core rulebooks. Thieves or Rogues do not have it as a bonus language.

It can easily be added to a campaign if you want it.

No, it ain't.

Instead, there's the Innuendo skill. So, you could say there's the rule support for thieves cant.

Not specifically, no. 3.0 had the "Innuendo" skill (a class skill for Rogues), which served the same basic function.

But then in 3.5 they realized it wasn't a very good skill after all and got rid of it. It might all be handled with Bluff/Sense Motive checks now, I don't know.

Boy, you're off to a real polite start there, aren't you? Where's  when you need him? :\

Since Planescape isn't a 3e/3.5 setting, I imagine not. Unless you're referring to some other cant. Either way, as I said, it's a setting flavor element. That stuff really hasn't changed for any setting that's been carried forward, and even less so for settings that have only unofficially been transitioned.

Johnnie, tone it down a notch or two. This thread starts off rudely and gets worse with your response. If you're asking people to help you with information, being nasty to them doesn't especially impress anyone.

If you wish to discuss this, please feel free to email me.

In earlier editions (1e, anyway), "thieves' cant" was a special language that (IIRC) could only be learned by members of the thief class, much like Druidic and Druids. Its primary purpose was to let members of the thieves' guild talk about robberies without sounding like they were talking about robberies.

As has been noted, this was replaced with Innuendo in 3.0, and folded into Bluff in 3.5.

Still, if one wanted the old-style Thieves' Cant, it's trivial to just add it to the language list.

In 3e, this was handled by the Innuendo skill. In 3.5e, it is handled by the Bluff and Sense Motive skills.
