When Agent Coulson says he's leaving for New Mexico, I immediately thought of the Hulk. I was rather surprised to see after the credits that the reference was to Thor. I admit that I'm several years out of touch with the current Marvel universe, so maybe this made sense to someone more up to date?

IIRC, when Thor was most recently MIA, his hammer was found in a crater in a road somewhere -- I don't remember where it was found, though. Once Thor came back, he eventually recreated Asgard in Oklahoma, but I don't know if that's where the hammer was found or not.

Also, this is going to be the movie that introduces Thor to the world. I think becasue of that they are going to start with the finding of the hammer and go from there.

It has nothing to do with the comics, Thor movie is coming out next year and an Avengers movie is in the works as well and they're making connections between everything now.

There are easter eggs in Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk to this effect as well. If thor is next we'll probably get a Cap easter egg somewhere in that movie.

There's a tiny Captain America hint in IM2 already. ;)

It was tiny in the first Iron Man movie. In IM2, Stark and Coulson have a long discussion about what color and style of lampshade they should hang on it, and then they go out to Home Depot to pick one out. :D

It showed up in an issue of Fantastic Four before Civil War, in, unsurprisingly, Oklahoma. The Army had built a dome over it, and Dr. Doom came back from Hell to try and get it.

COMICBOOKS-
Thor and Asgard was "destroyed". Then years later the Hammer returned from high above and strikes the earth. Folks come from everywhere to discover what the energy source is. It is Thor's hammer. Donald Blake arrives after many people (including Doom) try to move the hammer. Blake in a monologue says mankind doesn't need gods but gods need mankind and touches / releases the trapped energy within the hammer. Thor is back. The gods are everywhere on earth but also hidden in human vessals in several cases. Thor begins to find and release them after calling up Asgard which reforms in a cornfield in the Midwest. Several funny scenes involving "earth" laws vs Asgardian laws.

Thor is slowly dealing with the heroes whom have acted poorly in his absense (Civil War, Invasion). Recently Osbourne overplayed his hand by trying to take over Asgard for Loki / himself.

MOVIES
Marvel is leading up an Avengers movie by intruducing the heroes bit by bit. Ironman which introced Nick Fury and the Avengers Initiative. Then came The Incredible Hulk which had a scene with Tony Stark and General Ross about technological heroes vs biological. During this movie it was brought out how the US Government has been working on the Super Soldier Serum and we saw how it can be effective (until kicked by) against some one like the Hulk. In Iton Man II there was a scene where Tony Stark has a prototype of the Shield under construction. There is also more with Fury and the Avengers Iniative. Thor's Hammer is the final scene here.

Next year is Thor's Movie (May 11th I believe) followed by Captain America's movie (Chris Evans from Human Torch and Push) followed by the Avengers movie.

The movie is rumored to introduce Hawkeye. Though seperate from the movie line there is also an Antman movie underdevelopment.

Samual Jackson has a contract for 9 movie appearances.

Now if only they would do the same with Justice League. :D
