Pathfinder 1E IPad & IPhone Apps from Paizo

Well it looks like Paizo has finally gotten some apps out for PFRPG for the IPad & IPhone.

The two I have found are ICrit & IFumble, which with a very quick look appear to be electronic version of the Crit & Fumble decks they had out for 3.5/D20.

iFumble for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

iCrit for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

I'll be honest, I'm glad to see that they are getting products out but I have a couple issues. (Please keep in mind these are IMHO)

#1 it took way to long

#2 the first app should have been a Character Sheet / Tracker.

Now that being said these are great apps to test the waters, I just hope to hear they have more things coming soon.

Did they say how long these took to make? It could be that they were working on that other stuff and somebody had an epiphany about the decks only recently.

But I do agree, I want more.

I purchased both of them and I like em. Very simple and neat.

What do you mean by character sheet tracker?

I'm looking for a program that will work as an electronic character sheet that I can use at the table that will also store copies of all the characters I have loaded in to it.

My goal is to be able as a player to go to a game with my iPad, dice & mini and be able to play.

The iPad would have the above Character Sheet app along with PDF copies of the rules books / or internet access to be able to refer to one of the versions of the SRD that are available online.

I just came across them this evening as I just picked up an iPad today and was looking for apps. I did notice they were just posted to the App Store on the 1st of July.

If the iphone can store pdfs then why can't it store pdf character sheets like the ones from Neceros? It is one that allows you to type into and store the data. They also have one that autocalculates.

Link to Neceros character sheet.

I'll have to take a look at that, thanks.

The next trick would be finding a PDF reader on the iPad that will allow you to make changes and allow the autocalc to work. Guess I have some research to do.

The character sheet that autocalcs looks exactly like that one, but it just does the math for you. You don't need to download anything else to make it work. The only errors are that you have to add in the +3 for perception, and the size penalty bonus to AC is does not register as the opposite for a CMD/CMB checks.
Example a gnome is small so it gets a +1 to AC, but a -1 to CMD. Well the sheet either gives you a -1 or +1 to both.
I don't know how to work Adobe In or I would fix those small errors myself since the creator put the code out as open source.

I'm disappointed in the apps because they've been in development for so long.

After all this time, I was expecting something much bigger.

I would think that these apps would have been better combined into one app. If you use special criticals and fumbles, now you have to leave one app and go to the other - perhaps in the same combat. Rather cumbersome - and adds time to combat (which, IMO, is long enough already).

(Of course, since I don't play with special criticals and fumbles, these apps are completely useless to me, adding to my disappointment.)

I hope this is the case. They have been talking about iPad/iPhone apps for what seems like a long time now. While these do seem like a great way to do some of the decks they have on the modern tablet device, I hope these aren't the only ones they have been working on.

With that said, I may end up buying these for a couple of reasons. One, to show some support for what I hope is just the start of their tablet/smartphone initiative and two, because it does bring the price of the crit and fumble decks to something more attractive to me.

HeroLab is supposedly going to work on an iPad version after they wrap up their Mac version of HeroLab. I think the last I heard was a fall timeframe for the Mac version of HeroLab to be released. If they manage to do an iPad version, I suspect it will be very good.

I hope it is more like darjr mentioned - that these were something that came up while they are working on a bigger app.
