well, thats the kind of feedback i'm looking for. in the 3e DMG the alertness IOUN stone costs 8000. That makes me think IOUN stone that provides feat = 8000. Otherwise, how can you judge between feats how much they should cost to make?

well, Alertness is a feat anyone can take. It provides a +2 bonus to two skills.

Spellfocus provides a +1 bonus to the DC for saves from one school of spells.

I'd say those are about even.

Greater Spellfocus should have a higher cost, since you don't have to have the prerequisits you would need to have to take the feat. You might want to see if you can find any similar items in the DMG or Magic of Faerun

Spell Focus gives +1.

Greater Spell Focus gives +2.

Don't you think the second one should cost more?

I'd price it at 32000gp, as usually +2 items cost four times as much as +1 items.

Geoff.

Since spell focus at +1 is only worth a fraction of a feat to begin with (ie it sucks even more than toughness at +3 hp, and that is hard to do!) I would just say this:

Spell focus: 2k
Greater spell focus: 8k

if you require the user to have spell focus to use the greater one then they are both 2k.

Since alertness will be useful at least 8x as much there should be a considerable drop in price.

All the prices look right (double of a slot-using item) except for the SF and GSF stones. Alterness costs 10k, which is in line for a feat-reproducing item that doesn't take a slot.

According to the guidelines in the SRD and DMG, I'd place the SF one at 10k, and the GSF one at 20k (since it's replacing two feats). And yeah, those feats were nerfed in 3.5, but they're still real good (just not no-brainers anymore). Even if you think they suck compared to other feats, it would still only mandate a small cost reduction.

So I'd place them at 10k and 20k.

If you *really* think they bite, I wouldn't reduce the cost below 3/4 (to 8k and 16k). They still reproduce feats and don't take item slots.

Assuming a feat is worth 10k, any feat.

Toughness is +3 hp, 10k.

+2 to con nonslotted enhancement is 8k.

I dont think anyone will disagree that the +2 con item is way way better. Most of the time it gives more hp, plus it effects a save and at least one skill. Along with making it slightly harder to die from certain poisons.

Doesnt matter much, just a comparison. Not all feats are worth the same amount, some feats are better and so would be worth more. Others are definately not as good and as such should not cost as much.

Yeah, but Toughness is the bottom of the barrel. SF and GSF aren't the best feats in the game for casters anymore, but they're still decent.
